AR04 - This item is a handmade vintage color image of Thomas Jefferson, imprinted on a Stone. Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the third President of the United States from 1801 to 1809. He envisioned America as a force to counter the imperialism of the British Empire. Several major accomplishments during his presidency include the Louisiana Purchase (1803), which doubled the size of the United States, and the Lewis and Clark Expedition in years
(1801 - 1806), which significantly advanced geographic and scientific knowledge of North America. Jefferson was one of the most influential Founding Fathers and scholars consistently rank him as one of the greatest U.S. presidents.
The image is based on a Portrait by Rembrandt Peal, 1800, researched and made available by Karen Hatzigeorgiou on her website for vintage images, https://karenswhimsy.com/public_domain_images/ and is available from Wikimedia, Wikimedia Commons at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson
