AEI04 - Luminary of Charles “The Hammer” Martel,

etched on glass.  He lived from 686 - 741 AD and

was the Frankish leader who halted the Muslim

advance into Western Europe at the Battle of Tours,

France, October 10, 732 AD.  By defeating the

invading Moslems at the Battle of Tours, Charles

Martel set the religious and cultural direction for

Western Europe, and later the Americas, for generations

to come.  His grandson, Charlemagne, became King of

the Franks in 768 AD and united most of Western Europe

during the early Middle Ages, including laying the

foundations for modern France and Germany

Being overall 5 inches wide and 8 3/4 inches high, this luminary has a 4 x 6 inch piece of 1/4 inch glass, laser engraved with an image of Charles Martel along with a historical description of his significance.  The glass is mounted on a stone base being held in place by a custom designed bracket, produced by 3D printing.

The glass and its image are illuminated from behind by a six lamp LED light (included) which is powered by 3 AAA batteries (not included).  This luminary makes a great night light or a light source to brighten a darker corner of your bookshelf.
